To our new 'Canes:

Congratulations and welcome to the University of Miami! You are about to begin what will undoubtedly be some of the greatest years of your lives. You are all joining our Hurricane family and we are very excited about welcoming you, the best class to ever enter UM. There are so many exciting things that will be happening on our campus during your years here.

The University of Miami's rapidly rising academic rankings are a tribute to the quality of faculty, students and the terrific vision of President Shalala. There are also new facilities that are being constructed and an ever-growing variety of co-curricular activities that I encourage you to get involved with right away. You will see many of what UM has to offer through the orientation process and at CaneFest where many of our 260+ student organizations will be recruiting new members.

Be ready to hit the ground running immediately. Orientation will fly by and before you know it you will be taking the freshman walk around Dolphin Stadium, the new home of Hurricane football, on only the second day of classes! So, start practicing the Alma Mater and get ready to see some of UM's greatest traditions the moment you step foot on our beautiful Coral Gables campus.

Trust me when I say that your time as an undergraduate will fly by so take advantage of every moment. Please feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions throughout the year or even before you arrive. My e-mail address is: brandon@miami.edu.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and I look forward to seeing you soon!

Go 'Canes!
