Trying to avoid breaking the bank while getting a bite? Food expenses can be among the most costly on a student's budget if you don't plan for them. And ordering one too many pizzas at 3 a.m. is sure to run you penniless by the end of the semester. Here are some tips for eating out, as well as a list of affordable restaurants and good deals available in Miami.

Cutting Down Costs When Eating Out:

·Eat ahead of time and order an appetizer if you're just going out to socialize

·Skip drinks and get water (it's better for you anyway)

·Ask if the restaurant offers any student discount toward your meal or has any specials that college students can take advantage of

·Split a large meal or series of appetizers between friends. This works well with restaurants that offer multiple appetizers as entrees .

Great, Inexpensive Places to Eat in the City:

·TGI Friday's, off of US-1 - right across from campus

·JJ's American Diner, off of US-1 - offers a student discount that goes toward your entire meal if you bring your Cane ID

·Berries Restaurant, Coconut Grove - great for the health conscious eater, offers reasonably priced breakfast and brunch

·Moon Thai & Japanese, off of US-1 - just a short walk across from campus that'll save a car ride

·Einstein Bros. Bagels, off of US-1 - save on breakfast and grab a bagel and lox at Einstein's

·Panera Bread, off of US-1 in Sunset Place - moderately priced breakfast and lunch

·Deli Lane Café & Tavern, off of US-1, Brickell

·Stir Moon Thai & Japanese, off of US-1 - practically next door to Moon Thai & Japanese, and a similar dining experience

·Spris Pizza, Lincoln Road- great pizza and moderately priced entrees in South Beach

·Chipotle, off of US-1 - tasty Mexican food with most meals under $10
